Palm wine, extracted from the juice of palm oil trees, is one of Gambia’s well kept secrets. For centuries, the tapping of palm wine is done in the same way and the technique is passed on from father to son.

In a secluded spot, just around the corner of several tourist hotels, Lucas’s palm winery is an idyllic place at a small lake with water lilies and birds, where regular visitors are welcomed from early morning until sunset for a refreshing glass of palm wine.
